形容词做状语，一是补充说明主语的有时候也称主语补足语，表示伴随，比如 He lay in bed,awake.醒着伴随躺这个动作。表示结果，He came home finally,hungry and tired.回家了，结果又累又饿。表原因，unable to stand up.，he felt sad.

二是做程度状语，就是少数形容词比如red，bitter，boiling，freezing，icy等，有时候可以像副词一样修饰形容词。如 The water is boiling hot.

三是有些形容词，在固定结构中，作为独立成分，起承上启下作用。More important，he finished the work on time.
